Hearts and Stars

I know that we have not been doing the best job keeping up with our blog. But as most of you know life with a little one is busy and now that I am back to work I prefer to spend every free moment enjoying my time with my family and not on the computer. However, I finally have some time since everyone is napping. They all have their reasons for being tired...John got up and ran a 10K this morning, Kaley had a late night (more on that later) and Bayla well she just likes to sleep.
Life is good...busy but good. We have had a busy month with John traveling for work, preparing for the house, and going down to Houston...among other things. Kaley is still the perfect baby. She rarely fusses unless she has a reason and even then it is minimal. She is sleeping an average of 10 hours a night. Not that we have had it bad in any way but on the weekends it is nice to get some really good long sleep. She is definitely her daddy's girl in many ways. Here she is first thing in the morning all smiles!

She loves musical toys and while she is still a bit small for her Exersaucer she definitely enjoys it.

I can honestly say that we have gotten used to people coming by just to see Kaley. She is always the center of attention! Of course mommy and daddy don't mind showing off their precious little girl! Kaley with Vincent and Jamie while visiting with friends.

We definitely treasure the time that we have together as a family. Here she is on her first of many rides on Daddy's shoulders.
The weather can't seem to make up its mind around here. One day it is 70 degrees and absolutely beautiful and the next it is 34 and yucky. Although Kaley likes the cold 'cause she gets to be all bundled up!
Valentine's has also come and gone. She had a special dress for Valentine's day and looked beautiful as always. While she didn't spend the day with anyone special except mommy and grandma she did get to see a special friend the next day! Kaley got her first Valentine from "her first boyfriend" Michael Cash Holman.

Mike Holman, Kaley, Daddy, and Michael Cash Holman.

It was great to go to Houston and get to see Granny and Pop. We were also glad to see the Holman family. We love being able to get together with our good friends and share our stories of parenthood. We just wish we lived closer and got to see them more often!

Kaley got to experience her first Dallas Stars game last night! We took the train into Dallas to see the game! It was quite the excursion! Kaley was startled the first of 5 times the Stars scored and everyone went crazy! Other than that she was great and even slept through the 2nd period. I sure wish I could sleep like that for just one night! You can't really tell by the picture but Kaley has a Stars outfit and beanie on! GO STARS!

The house is coming along. We haven't been by to see it in 2 weeks but we plan to go either today or tomorrow. Here is a picture from 2 weeks ago. So far everything is still running on time and as planned so we are hoping and praying to be closing in a month! It is crazy how fast it is happening!

I think I say this each time I post but I will really try to post more often! I am sure it would be easier since then the posts would be short and sweet and I wouldn't have to put up 10 pictures and try to recap a whole month! More to come...sometime!

Back to work...

Sorry we haven't blogged in a while. My computer crashed last week and John was in Minnesota so I had to wait for him to get back to fix it. It was such a mess and I lost everything! UGH, sometimes I hate computers....Also, this was my first week back to work so I have not had too much time on my hands. Every spare minute I have I am spending with Kaley.

Tuesday, January 29th was my first day back to work. I did a lot better than I expected! I made it all the way out to the car before I burst into tears. It made it easier because I am able to stay busy, but being away from her for 11 hours is hard. I love having Friday's off because I am able to have a whole day with my girl, but getting home so late is not so much fun. I know that it is harder on me than it is on her and at least she is still too young to say "Mommy don't leave". I am not so sure I would be able to leave her if she could.
We are very fortunate to have John's mom watching Kaley during the day. It is much easier leaving her with somebody we know loves her than having to take her to daycare. I cannot imagine having to drop her off at daycare; that would truly break my heart.

Anyways enough about me working...Kaley is doing well. I cannot believe how fast she is growing. She is about 12.5 pounds now. Her personality is really developing with each passing day. She is smiling all the time and is so close to laughing. She gets out the first part of a giggle but not quite a full laugh. She loves to kick and squirm especially when she is on her playmat or in the bath. Bath time is definitely one of her favorite things. We may have a swimmer/ polo player in the making! She has just recently started batting at her mobiles to make them jingle. She also now has a new exersaucer and while she is still a little small for it we still put her in it with a a blanket around her to giver her some added support. She can't reach any of the toys yet, but she loves when we make the lights and music go on.

Lots of pictures!

Kaley and Daddy trying to fix mommy's computer.

Kaley in her Bumbo having a staring contest with Bayla.

All smiles!

"Mommy what are you thinking...it is too early in the morning to be taking pictures."

Kaley's new favorite cat nap place, the corner of the couch.

All bundled up and napping after taking a walk in the cold weather.

Daddy, I'm hungry!
(I think that spoon is about as big as her head.)
