Father of My Children

Where to begin...almost 6 years ago I met this amazing man.  At first we didn't talk too much, he was pretty shy and as I am sure most of you know, I am definitely not.   He was the complete opposite of every other guy I had ever dated.  I can remember pointing him out to my friend Kathryn and saying "I don't know what it is, I like him so much and he is definitely not my 'type'."  On April 23, 2004 we went on our first date!  I was so pleasantly surprised that this guy who wasn't my "type" was exactly what I needed and wanted.  I knew pretty much immediately that this time it was different.   November 12, 2005 he asked me to be his wife.  December 29, 2006 we said our vows and pledged to spend the rest of our lives together.  I thought that I could never love him more than I did on our wedding day.  March 10, 2007 we found out that we were expecting our first child.  I knew he would make a great father.  November 7, 2007 we welcomed our sweet baby girl, Kaley Marilynn into this world.  She made us a family.  As I watched John holding his daughter that day I loved him more than I ever had before.  Over the past 19 months I have watched him be the most amazing father and role model to Kaley.  I could not have asked for a more perfect person to be the father of my children.  February 2009, we found out that we will be welcoming our second child into our family in October.  Jaelynn will learn fast how blessed she is to have John as her daddy.

John as I watch you with our daughter each and every day I fall more in love with you than I was the day before.  You are everything I hoped and prayed for my entire life.  I love the way you will do anything to make your daughter happy and yet at the same time you are able to discipline her in a kind enough way that she knows you love her no matter what.  I love the way you touch my belly just to be a little closer to Jaelynn or feel her moving.  I could stay up all day and night making a list of all the things I love about you as my husband and the father of my children.  I love the man that you are, the father that you have become, and the role model that you strive to be for your family.   I love you more than words can ever express.  Thank you for being you and thank you for being such an incredibly loving father.

I love you.

Busy Bees

Busy, busy, busy.  It has been a crazy busy couple of weeks here in the Vasel house.  As I mentioned previously Granny came down to visit for a while during my birthday and while transitioning Kaley to her big girl bed.  Then it was back to life as usual with tons of fun summer activities to fill our time and this past weekend we headed down to San Antonio to see Aunt Kelly graduate from Air Force basic training.

Summer fun in the pool!

Relaxing, yes that is daddy's leg!
This pool may look small but mommy, daddy and Kaley can all fit!

Riding to the pool at GiGi's.

It has been a fun summer so far!  Kaley is still enjoying swim lessons and loves to "swim" in her pool in the back yard.  We are looking forward to going to Granny and Pop's soon to go swimming in their BIG pool.  Kaley has done amazingly well with her transition to her big girl bed!  No problems at all.  We took down the crib, set up the bed and that was that.  She is so amazing.  I am truly amazed at how easy pretty much everything has been with her these past 19 months.  Now don't get me wrong, I am sure I am in for it either later in Kaley's life or with Jaelynn on the way (or both for that matter) but Kaley has really been the perfect first child!  I am so blessed!  I love my little girl and am just treasuring each and every moment I have with "just her" until October!  It will be a whole new world to be blessed with two daughters!

Poop

I know, I know such an eloquent title!  Anyways, this will be short and sweet...Kaley has now pooped on the potty two days in a row!  Yesterday when we were out running errands she came up to me and said "Mommy, poopy".  She hadn't gone yet so I asked her if she needed to go on the big girl potty.  She said yes so I braved the public restroom with her just in case she really did need to go.  After wiping off the toilet seat and layering it with toilet paper I sat her on it (I had to hold her up since it was a little big) and she actually went poopy in the potty!!!! We cheered, we sang, we danced...it was a very proud moment!  Then this morning she did it again, only this time she was still at home and she got a ducky sticker afterwards.  We are hoping that this continues and isn't just a fluke!  We shall see...now we just have to get the peeing part down.  My girl is just growing up so fast!  More to come later on the transition to her big girl bed and our time with Granny!

Can't Get Enough

I just can't get enough of my little girl!  I am so blessed that God chose me to be Kaley's mommy.  On with some pictures of what has been going on lately around our house!

Kaley and Daddy "washing" the car...with a little help from Bayla!

Kaley playing in the sprinkler (and grass) in the backyard.

She just loves being outside at all times!

Kaley eating a very big strawberry!

Ok Pop, I'd say we are ready for our table and chairs!
She did this all by herself because she wanted to sit and play.

Sleepy girl, Kaley hugging baby sissy!
